Arsenal reportedly are the surprise favourites to land Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall ahead of January, as Chelsea are prepared to sell the midfielder.
According toCaught Offside, Arsenal have reportedly emerged as surprise favourites to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall ahead of the next window. The 26-year-old Chelsea outcast has been garnering big interest from fellow Premier League sidesincluding Tottenham and Manchester United.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s Chelsea career hangs in the balance as things have not gone according to plan. Despite featuring heavily for Enzo Maresca for Leicester City last season, the midfielder following his manager to Chelsea has not worked out, as the Italian boss has many options ahead in the pecking order.
Chelsea are ready to sell Dewsbury-Hall in January for a reported price of £30 million. At such a rate, some of the Premier League sides are already showing an interest, with Tottenham and Manchester United among those linked with a move.
Leicester City are also keen to re-sign the midfielder, as the 26-year-old Chelsea outcast could be seen as a proper fit under Ruud van Nistelrooy. The surprising suitor in the race for Dewsbury-Hall is Arsenal, with the report stating the Gunners are reportedly favourites to land the midfielder.
For starters, Arsenal do not particularly need strengthening in that midfield zone where they already have many players. In the most recent window, the Gunners signed Mikel Merino, as the Spaniard as well as Declan Rice or Myles Lewis-Skelly can play that role on the left side. Hence, it’s difficult to see the north Londoners making a bet on another midfielder when they clearly need to strengthen their attack in January.
Arsenal move won’t suit Dewsbury-Hall
While Arsenal could be an enticing prospect for any player, Dewsbury-Hall will face the same problem as he is currently enduring at Chelsea, with the competition in place in north London. Moreover, the Gunners already have Raheem Sterling on loan from the Blues, meaning they cannot sign another player on a temporary basis from the same club, as only a permanent move for the midfielder seems possible.
The likes of Tottenham and Manchester United, who have a different set of ideas for their midfield, would be the right fit for Dewsbury-Hall. The Premier League giants are looking at him, and for the price he’s available, a move to either would make more sense than Arsenal at this current moment.
