Phil Jagielka has shared what would be the “perfect scenario” at Everton as The Friedkin Group (TFG) takeover gets close.
Goodison News understands there’s still no concrete timeline for the takeover to be completed, but the Merseyside club aren’t worried, and the ex-Toffees skipper would like to see Dan Friedkin take control soon.
Another issue that needs to be addressed at the Blues is the expiring contracts of several players, and Jagielka wants the new owners to make swift decisions and potentially strengthen the squad in January.
Writing in the Liverpool Echo [18 December], he said: “So if we can get the takeover done — we’d like it today, tomorrow or within a week but preferably before the transfer window — we can get things moving in the right direction.
“And we can hopefully secure the players we want to keep, give a straight-up answer to the players who potentially won’t be here next season, and hopefully get a chance to go and strengthen in January. That would be the perfect scenario for the club.”
Dan Friedkin has big calls to make at Everton after takeover
The Friedkins are set to usher in a new era at the Toffees, and the supporters are happy to see the back of Farhad Moshiri.
The Blues are also set to move to Bramley-Moore Dock for the start of next season, and the Goodison farewell needs to be iconic.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Idrissa Gueye, Ashley Young and Michael Keane are some of the players whose deals expire in the summer of 2025.
Sean Dyche’s contract at Everton also runs out at the end of the season, making the imminent takeover imperative moving forward.

The Toffees won’t have a lot of money to spend in the upcoming transfer window and will look to make clever signings instead if possible [The i, 17 December].
There are also several players on loan, like Orel Mangala and Jesper Lindstrom, who the Blues need to decide on, which may be easy given their lack of success so far.
It won’t be smooth sailing for the Friedkins when they arrive, but they have the opportunity to bring stability back to the ship upon Goodisonupon’s arrival.
