Barcelona are hoping to welcome Thiago Alcantara back to Hansi Flick’s coaching staff in January.
Thiago worked with Flick at his former club at the start of the season but was forced to return to England for personal reasons.
However, it is now hoped he can pick up where he left off at Barcelona in early 2025, according to Marca.
It’s been reported previously that Thiago is still involved at Barcelona, albeit remotely, and has been involved in some video conferences and decisions.
Flick was full of praise before he left in the summer and spoke about how he came to bring him in at Barcelona.
“We have an excellent relationship since when he played in Munich,” he told reporters.
“When he was in Liverpool, we were in touch. We called each other when he finished his career and I told him that he would be an excellent coach. He has helped the team and is a great person.”
Flick talked up Thiago’s coaching skills but it’s also thought he was a useful link between the dressing room and the coaching staff at Barca.
