Ruben Amorim has revealed Alejandro Garnacho is "a little bit upset with him" over his omission from the Manchester United squad against City on Sunday.

The Manchester Evening News revealed that Garnacho and Rashford had been omitted from United's 20-man matchday squad and ordered to train at the club's Carrington training complex on the morning of the derby.

Amorim confirmed after United's 2-1 victory that the pair had not been disciplined but that he was unhappy with their form in training and in matches. Rashford has since conducted an interview outlining his intention to leave United next year but Garnacho has remained silent.

Garnacho trained on Monday and Amorim was pleased with his response, describing his behaviour towards the United head coach as "perfect".

"Really good, he trained really well," Amorim enthused. "He seems a little bit upset with me and that’s perfect. I was really really happy because I would do the same. He’s ready for this game."

Rashford did not train on Monday due to illness but Amorim reiterated the England international "trained really well on the day of the game".

At the second successive press conference, Amorim was asked about team news leaks. The MEN published United's leaked XI against City 20 hours before kick off and also reported that Rashford was not included in the matchday squad.

United team news and line-ups have leaked sporadically for several years yet the earliness of the derby XI and the significance of the match made the matter more topical.

Amorim clarified he has no intention of taking new measures to halt the leaks and is unconcerned. "Nothing. Nowadays, all of the coaches know about it. I explained a lot about the team, how I want us to play, the positions etc.

"I say that because I understand that the coaches have that information just to see one time how Manchester United play, so I’m not really worried about that. I also cannot control that so I’ll do the same things, and prepare the same way.

"For me, it’s more important for my players to go to a game with a clear idea of how to do it than try to hide something to protect the leaking of the starting XI. That’s not my focus, I’m not really worried about that."
