Chelsea will be looking to continue their 100 per cent record in the Conference League this evening when their league phase campaign ends with a clash with Shamrock Rovers.
It promises to be a famous night for the visitors who have a great chance of joining the Blues as automatic qualifiers for the round of 16. Should they win in London, they will finish in the top eight, a defeat would see them needing to settle for the play-offs.
For Enzo Maresca, you would be forgiven if his mind is elsewhere with Chelsea safely through. Perhaps he will be thinking about the upcoming January transfer window and should that be the case, football.london has taken a closer look at a couple of the big moves surrounding the Blues in the build-up to next month.
Arsenal look to repeat Chelsea trick
According to Caught Offside, the Gunners are looking to swoop in for Chelsea's out-of-favour midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall this winter. The former Leicester City man has not had much of a look in since following Maresca to Stamford Bridge.
As such, the report claims Arsenal are one of a number of admirers looking to test Chelsea's resolve in January. Fulham, Tottenham and Manchester United are all listed as potential destinations for the midfielder.
What FL says: In truth, allowing Dewsbury-Hall to leave permanently next month would be a bizarre move from Maresca. The 26-year-old has not had much of a look in so far but clearly Maresca saw something in him to bring him to Chelsea. I doubt the Italian would wish to admit defeat so soon with the midfielder but it is also true that he needs to gain more playing time. As such a loan move, potentially back to Leicester would make sense between now and the end of the season to get his confidence back up.
Chilwell exit on the cards
According to TeamTalk, an exit in January is on the cards for Ben Chilwell as he looks to regalvanise his career away from Chelsea. He has so far played just one match for Maresca, featuring for 45 minutes against Barrow.
It is believed that while United are not interested in a deal, there could well be other, unnamed suitors willing to pounce at the end of the window to bring the full-back on board.
What FL says: Whatever happens in January, Chilwell needs to leave Chelsea. The lack of game time is only damaging his career further and he does not deserve that. Whether it be a loan move or a permanent sale, the ex-Leicester City man needs to find a new club in January.
