Newcastle United will be a part of the Carabao Cup semi-final draw.
Indeed, Newcastle fans will eagerly be awaiting the draw taking place on Thursday night after Tottenham’s clash with Manchester United in the last of the quarter-finals.
Eddie Howe’s side sailed into the final four draw with a 3-1 victory over Brentford at St James’ Park on Wednesday evening.
Sandro Tonali scored twice in the victory over the Bees, which came only days after the Newcastle United manager questioned the attitude of some of his players following the Premier League defeat to Thomas Frank’s side.
That was a brilliant response. Granted, Brentford might have been dreadful away from home all season but Newcastle still had to go and win it.
Frank even revealed he told Howe he wanted Newcastle to win the competition outright.
Another semi-final is massive for the club. This has not been an easy season but Newcastle are just a couple of results away from reaching their second domestic final in two years.
They will, however, be without key players for the first leg of the semi, which is scheduled to take place on the week commencing Monday 6 January, 2025.

The midfielder took to social media platform X after the game, writing: “Very happy to be in another semifinal with this club. The second in three years, and we want more. Happy for another assist and for the team’s performance. On the other hand, sad to be suspended for the first leg of the semifinal. We move forward together in pursuit of our goals.”
Newcastle’s record without Bruno Guimaraes is dreadful
Newcastle haven’t actually won any of their seven Premier League games without Guimaraes since he joined the club in January 2022.

That does not make for ideal reading, albeit perhaps the fact Tonali is able to lead the Newcastle midfield in his absence could help change matters.
