Report: What Everton staff really think about the Friedkin Group taking over from Farhad Moshiri

A new dawn beckons for Everton.

The Friedkin Group are on the verge of completing their Everton takeover as an announcement is expected later today.

Since agreeing a deal with Farhad Moshiri in September, the American investors have been going through the mandatory processes with the Premier League and were finally granted approval last week.

The Friedkin’s have fended off competition from the 777 Partners, who for a time looked almost nailed on to become Everton’s new owners.

It’s understood the announcement is expected to be pretty low-key as they don’t want to make the same mistake they made at Roma – publicising their intention to ‘make the club great’ – which is so far proving difficult.

That’s according to the i News Paper, who have also revealed what Everton staff really think about the Friedkin’s.

Everton staff excited about the Friedkin Group’s arrival

The i News Paper reported that Everton staff are really excited about the arrival of the Friedkin Group at Goodison Park.

Toffees staff have already had several interactions with the previous prospective owners 777 Partners, though, it seems there is much more optimism around Dan Friedkin and his firm.

The Friedkin’s have already spent £200m on Everton through stadium bills, existing debts and day-to-day running costs.

So it’s already pretty clear they are extremely committed to the club and mega-money deals are already being made to transform finances.

Everton’s new owners are lining up a £100m stadium naming rights deal for Bramley-Moore Dock, which will allow money to be spent more freely in future transfer windows.

Friedkin Group also planning to upgrade on Kevin Thelwell

The Friedkin’s are also making immediate plans to replace sporting director Kevin Thelwell, who’s responsible for a number of below-par signings.

Stephen Warnock criticized Thelwell live on Sky Sports earlier this week, so it seems he could be one of the first out of the door.

Dan Ashworth is being eyed by Everton after his shock Manchester United exit earlier this month.

Ashworth’s potential arrival would be a major coup having enjoyed highly successful stints at Brighton and Newcastle United.
