'Fantastic' Chelsea player spotted back in training ahead of Conference League game after recent injury

Chelsea’s last game against Brentford in the Premier League was a rare example this season of their squad being seriously affected by injury problems.

The Blues were missing a whole host of first team stars for the West London derby, shown by Enzo Maresca only willing to make one sub in the hard-fought 2-1 win.

Chelsea hope Romeo Lavia will be able to return in time for their next game against Everton, after he came off at half-time of the thrilling win against Tottenham.

Benoit Badiashile is reportedly in for a longer spell on the sidelines with his own issue, and is part of a mini defensive injury crisis at Stamford Bridge.

Another player who was nowhere to be seen last time out was Joao Felix, at a time where he has been beginning to nail down more first team minutes domestically.

Joao Felix back in Chelsea training

Maresca described Felix as ‘different from the rest’ recently, and his talents have been extended beyond Conference League games at the back end of 2024.

It was reported before their last European game that Felix was injured, however it doesn’t seem as if that issue has lasted too long.

As pointed out by Kieran Gill, the Portugal international has been seen back amongst the first team stars preparing for their home game against Shamrock Rovers tonight.

Enzo Maresca didn’t really want to sign Felix

It was reported earlier this season that Maresca was more keen on signing a defender than Felix during the summer transfer window.

In fact, it was the club convincing Maresca he could improve Felix which was what saw him eventually return to Stamford Bridge for his second stint at the club.

Everything the manager has said about the attacker since has suggested he has been more than impressed with him since he made the move. Maresca has described Felix as ‘fantastic’ this season.
