‘Dear friend’: Al Shabab chief's heartwarming farewell message to Vitor Pereira about 'dream'…

A new era is set to begin at Wolves with Portuguese boss Vitor Pereira replacing Gary O’Neil at the helm.

From the moment O’Neil was sacked on Sunday after Wolves lost 2-1 to Ipswich Town, the process of identifying his replacement has been swift.

Just hours after the Englishman was shown the door, Vitor Pereira emerged as the ideal candidate to come in and is now on the verge of being announced.

Pereira has already taken a Wolves training session and the Al Shabab boss will sign an 18-month contract at Wolves, keeping him at the club till 2026.

The club is yet to make an official announcement however, as the fans wait patiently, the president of Al Shabab Muhammed Al-Munajem has sent a farewell message to the 56-year-old.

Muhammed Al-Munajem sends goodbye message to Vitor Pereira

Throughout his managerial career, Pereira has averaged a win percentage of over 53%, maintaining a similar level at Al Shabab.

Since taking over in February, the Portuguese has won 16 of his 30 matches, drawing four and losing 10.

The new Wolves manager has enjoyed a decent stint in the Saudi Pro League but Pereira’s dream is to manage in the Premier League, and Al Shabab president Al-Munajem is happy to grant his wish after sending a heartwarming goodbye message, per journalist Ben Jacobs.

“To my dear friend Vítor Pereira. This is football and its circumstances. You have always shared with me your dream [of managing in the Premier League], and today I am happy to see it fulfilled,” Al-Munajem said.

“We created many dreams together, but every story has an end, and every end is a new beginning for something even greater. At Al-Shabab, we will continue striving to achieve our dreams, and you will always remain a dear friend and colleague to us. Wishing you all the best in your next journey.”

Pereira has a huge task on his hands at Wolves

It’s the manager’s dream to manage in England’s top flight but perhaps he wishes it was in different circumstances, as the Old Gold are second-bottom in the table and five points from safety.

The pressure is instantly on Pereira to achieve positive results in the dugout and first up is a massive trip to relegation rivals Leicester City on Sunday.

Wolves then face some difficult fixtures over the Christmas period, hosting Manchester United on Boxing Day before travelling to Tottenham three days later.

The latter two fixtures against attacking sides will be a serious baptism of fire for Pereira, who will want to hit the ground running at Molineux.

Indeed, the task on his hands to keep Wolves in the Premier League looks extremely difficult, although the January transfer window can play a vital role in their survival hopes.
