The Friedkin Group are set to become the new owners of Everton
Everton's takeover by the Friedkin Group is set to be completed on Thursday.
The news will bring an end to eight tumultuous years under the stewardship of Farhad Moshiri. Despite initial lavish spending on transfers, the era of the British-Iranian billionaire descended into chaos, with the club recently battling relegation and having to contend with financial penalties along with subsequent points deductions.
The Friedkin Group, who also own Serie A giants Roma, will no doubt inherit a number of issues at Everton. Namely the team is currently languishing near the relegation zone again in the Premier League. However, there is undoubted promise that comes with the Blues too.
At the end of the season Everton will move from their long-term home Goodison Park to a new stadium on the docks, offering not only the chance of more lucrative financial prospects but a physical fresh start for a new era.
