After six months out of action Kieran Tierney returned to first team action last night, playing for 70 minutes as Arsenal beat Crystal Palace to reach the semi-finals of the League Cup.
Whether he is still at Arsenal when the semi-finals are played is open to doubt, last night The Sun went very strong on a January transfer to Celtic:
CELTIC are in pole position to pull off a sensational transfer coup and bring Kieran Tierney back to Parkhead.
It emerged on Wednesday night that Arsenal won’t take up the option to extend the Scotland star’s contract beyond next summer.
Tierney’s ability isn’t in question but over the last few years injuries have severely limited his playing time, at Arsenal, Scotland and last season on loan at Real Sociedad.
Some fans expressed concern that Tierney went off after 70 minutes last night but no injury was reported afterwards, the start against Crystal Palace was his first since suffering a serious hamstring injury at the European Championships in Germany.
There are a lot of hurdles to be overcome before Tierney becomes a Celtic player but it is safe to assume that in an ideal world it is something that the player and hoops manager want to happen.
