Aston Villa have opened contract talks with Crewe Alexandra loanee Filip Marschall, according to a report by Football Insider.
The Premier League side are trying to tie down the goalkeeper to fresh terms. His current deal is due to expire in June 2027.

Marschall, 21, was given the green light to link up with Crewe Alexandra on loan in the last transfer window to get some more experience under his belt. He has since made 20 appearances in all competitions for the League Two side, 16 of which have come in the league, and he has caught the eye.
In this latest update regarding his situation with his parent club, Football Insider claim Aston Villa are in discussions with him over prolonging his stay.
He has been on the books at Villa Park since 2018 and has played once for their first-team in a Europa Conference League clash against Zrinjski Mostar last December.

The stopper was handed his first professional contract back in 2021.
His stay was then extended 12 months later and their Academy manager Mark Harrison said at the time, as per the club website: “We are delighted that Fil has signed a new contract. He played an important role in our FA Youth Cup run and had a successful loan at Gateshead last season.
“He has also represented England and was part of the squad that travelled to Australia, which shows he thoroughly deserves this new contract. We will all look forward to see how he develops over the next few years.”

Prior to joining Crewe Alexandra in the summer, he had previously had loan spells away from Aston Villa at Gateshead and MK Dons to boost his development.
What now?
Marschall will be eager to continue his impressive form with the Railwaymen over the coming weeks.
They are eyeing promotion to League One under the guidance of Lee Bell.
The Cheshire club lost in the play-off final at Wembley last term to Crawley Town.
