Arsenal star to 'leave' after emotional Palace win as Gunners decide against extension

Brendan Rodgers is reportedly keen on bringing Kieran Tierney back to Celtic.

The Scotland international has been informed by Arsenal that they will not be extending his contract, making him a free agent at the end of the season.

Tierney, who has always expressed a desire to return to his boyhood club, has maintained contact with Rodgers.

Despite playing 70 minutes in last night's EFL Cup semi-final victory over Crystal Palace, Tierney's future at Arsenal has been uncertain for some time due to fitness and game time struggles.

Last season, he was loaned out to Real Sociedad. His next move will depend on whether he wishes to return to Scotland sooner rather than later.

He transferred from Celtic to Arsenal in 2019 for approximately £25 million. Unless an agreement is reached for an early departure in January, the Parkhead academy graduate will be allowed to leave Emirates for free in the summer.

Celtic are currently looking for a left-back as Greg Taylor's contract expires in the summer and Alex Valle is on a season-long loan from Barcelona.

The Scottish champions are also interested in signing another left winger this window to provide backup for Daizen Maeda, with Luis Palma likely to depart, reports the Daily Record.
