What Farhad Moshiri has just said after selling Everton to The Friedkin Group

Everton’s time under Farhad Moshiri’s rule has now officially come to an end with The Friedkin Group now at the helm.

It’s been a long time coming, but Everton fans have finally seen the club’s takeover get across the line.

Moshiri’s time on Merseyside has not exactly provided many positive memories with the last few years being a real struggle.

However, The Friedkin Group are now in charge and there are encouraging times ahead for the fans with the new stadium also to look forward to.

The Friedkins have already set January’s transfer budget for Sean Dyche whose position at the club is set to come under scrutiny.

But the immediate reaction is of relief with a new regime now expected to guide Everton towards a brighter future.

“I truly believe that the transaction with The Friedkin Group is the best outcome for the Club and its future success,” said the former Everton owner.

“There has been a huge team effort in getting to this stage and I would like to personally thank my Board colleagues John Spellman and Colin Chong and all the senior management team including Katie, James, Richard and of course Kevin and Sean for their huge commitment to the Club.

“Despite a challenging geopolitical backdrop, a significant amount has been achieved over the last couple of years including the delivery of a new sporting department, the stabilisation of our finances and the delivery of our iconic new stadium.

“I now hand over to new owners confident in the outlook for the Club and that our incredible fans will see the success on the pitch that they so thoroughly deserve.”

It was shared just before the takeover was officially announced that Marc Watts had been appointed to the Everton board by the Friedkins.

Thursday, 19 December 2024 offers a fresh start on Merseyside.

Focus can now fully return on to the task at hand on Merseyside with Everton looking to retain their Premier League status.

The Friedkin Group will attend Everton vs Chelsea on the weekend which is guaranteed to offer a special atmosphere at Goodison.

However, the immediate jubilation cannot distract from the fact that Everton have really struggled – on the whole – this season.

Kevin Thelwell is set to be back by the Friedkins, but a big question is hanging over Dyche’s head as the Toffees sit 16th in the table.
