The January transfer window is almost upon us – and Wolves have been linked with a player from Newcastle United.
The hope – and expectation of the fans – is that Wolves will be busy next month, having had a shocking start to the 2024/25 season.
Wolves are 19th in the Premier League table and have just sacked Gary O’Neil after fans had called for him to go for weeks.
Vitor Pereira is the new manager, and the Portuguese has one mission – to keep the club in the Premier League.
And to do that, he needs new recruits.
There have already been a few links to players ahead of the winter window, but now it’s been claimed Wolves are interested in signing Miguel Almiron.

The Sun have reported that Wolves are one of three clubs looking into signing Miguel Almiron from Newcastle United in January.
Almiron has struggled for minutes this season at St. James’ Park, making just eight appearances so far.
The Magpies are open to offloading him in January, and he could be available for a loan move.

But Wolves are not the only Premier League team interested. Crystal Palace and Leicester City are also thought to be keen on the Paraguay international.
Almiron also has further interest from Marseille and Stuttgart.
Why Miguel Almiron is set to leave Newcastle on loan
Newcastle want to offload Almiron – who they signed for £21 million – by the end of the season.
He’s only played 283 minutes for the Magpies this season, and he needs a chance to play regularly again.
Of all the players to take to the field this season for Newcastle, only five players have played fewer minutes than Almiron and two of them are goalkeepers.
With Almiron’s contract expiring in the summer of 2026, a loan move would potentially put him in the spotlight heading into next summer, when Newcastle could look to sell.
Wolves don’t need Almiron – unless someone is leaving
Currently, it’s hard to see Wolves making a move for Almiron given Pereira is well stocked for wide forwards.
Having said that, it’s possible we could be seeing some exits in January.
Goncalo Guedes is thought to be a target for Villarreal, although fans will really hope he stays given the goals and assists he’s provided in this struggling team.
Hwang Hee-chan is also said to be attracting interest from several clubs ahead of 2025, so the South Korean could be another potential outgoing.

Earlier in the season, Pablo Sarabia was said to be on Sevilla’s radar. That said, it’s also been suggested Wolves would look to keep Sararbia until the end of his contract.
If any of these players left, then perhaps a case could be made for Wolves to move for Almiron, who’s been in England for six years.
He has experience of the Premier League, is capable of providing in the final third and is also known for his work-rate.
He’s also someone Eddie Howe has branded ‘unique’ (via Chronicle), with the Newcastle manager saying in 2023 he didn’t think there was anyone better than Almiron for what he brings in terms of energy and being all-action.
