The Kieran Tierney transfer rumour saga continues this morning as reports suggest that a return to Celtic from Arsenal could be a possibility again.
Tierney left Celtic back in 2019 in a £25m move to Arsenal making him the most expensive transfer outgoing in the club’s history.
The former Celtic defender became an Arsenal fan favourite after impressing the supporters in the early days of his Gunners career with his aggressive style of play and down-to-earth manner.
Tierney became a regular at Celtic under Brendan Rodgers after he made his debut during Ronny Deila’s time as the Hoops boss.
Out of contract at the end of the season, it appears Kieran Tierney is ‘open’ to a Celtic move after Arsenal made their intentions about their fullback perfectly clear.
Arsenal’s message to Kieran Tierney as Celtic move comes into focus
The Daily Mail has said that Arsenal have revoked their right to exercise their option to extend the Scotland fullback’s one-year option on his contract as it enters it’s final six months.
Free to speak to clubs in January, Tierney is said to be ‘open’ to taking a ‘substantial’ pay cut from his current £120,000 per week salary in order to rejoin Brendan Rodgers at Celtic.
Tierney returned to Arsenal first-team action last night to make his 125th appearance for the club but it is crystal clear that the English Premier League club see the former Celtic man as surplus to requirements.
