Roy Keane couldn't help himself to a funny jibe at the thought of not speaking to his wife for three months.
The Manchester United legend was responding to a question posed by Tyson Fury on The Overlap podcast. The heavyweight is all set to face Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday night at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia, with five belts on the line. The Gypsy King lost the pair's first bout in May as Usyk became the heavyweight division's first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis, but has brought what appears to be a more focused approach to fight week this time around.
He took time out of his busy schedule to pose a question via video link to the panel, which also included Jamie Carragher, Gary Neville, Jill Scott and Ian Wright. He asked: "Who would win in a fight between all of you guys?"
Scott jumped in first saying: "Me! I'll take them all." Neville then said it was "unbelievable" that Tyson had not spoken to his wife for three months. Keane replied in typical dry humour saying: "That's the norm in my house. What's the big deal with that! He's in a training camp." He added: "If he wins the fight then you will say 'he has done everything right'. If he loses you would say 'what was the point not speaking to your family'.
Former Arsenal star Ian Wright backed up his mate adding: "You don't want the mentality to be cracked. When you are at the level they are at you can't have anything that brings in a weakness. He doesn't want nothing that is going to make his mentality, which is 'I have to win', weaker." Ex-Liverpool defender Carragher agreed saying: "You do 12 week camps, but I don't think they would normally be away for 12 weeks. I think the fact that he has lost the first fight he has just thought nothing is [going to distract him]."
