Celtic fans face Aston Villa ticket scramble as initial Champions League allocation slashed

Celtic fans heading to Aston Villa for next month's Champions League showdown face an almighty ticket scramble after the away allocation was reduced.

Brendan Rodgers' men are on the brink of securing a play-off spot and can rubber-stamp their place in the top 24 by beating Young Boys at home on Wednesday January 22. Celtic then round off their league phase campaign with a Battle of Britain at Villa Park a week later where a sea of green and white will flood down south for the mouthwatering clash.

However, the vast majority of punters will have to settle for watching the game at a Midlands pub. It was initially expected that the Hoops would be granted a sizeable allocation of 2,500 tickets for the away end at Villa Park. But Celtic's SLO, John Paul Taylor, has warned fans that seats could be in short supply as Villa and the West Midlands Police get set to confirm the final allocation.

Responding to a fan on X who suggested that the away section was a 2972 capacity, Taylor said: "We won't get that, they initially indicated c. 2500 but then said 2100. Now West Mids Police are getting involved and could be further reduced, we are waiting on an update from them, will update as soon as we know."
