As that old saying goes, there is never smoke without fire, and in this instance, it looks like Chelsea are absolutely looking at new goalkeepers.
The club seem to keep pushing to the media and via Enzo Maresca that they don’t want a new goalkeeper and that Robert Sanchez is the number one that they believe in. But in reality, it looks like this is likely going to be just a way of protecting their stopper as it’s a crucial position on the pitch and they will need his confidence to be as high as possible rather than hearing any talk about replacing him.
EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea set to make January approach for Premier League centre back!!
Last week, Sport Witness covered claims from Germany which stated Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel is on Chelsea’s radar.
Bild have now provided more on Chelsea’s interest in the 27-year-old stopper, who they clearly like and are looking at.
The German outlet claim the Blues are looking at the Switzerland international because their hireachy believe he has ‘what it takes to become the best goalkeeper in the world’.
If Dortmund fail to qualify for the Champions League this season, the report states Chelsea’s chances of securing Kobel’s services would ‘increase enormously’ next summer.
Chelsea in for new stoppers

Chelsea keen on Kobel
It’s clear to me that Chelsea are certainly looking at new goalkeepers, no matter how hard they try to keep that quiet.
You can understand why Chelsea want to try and keep this quiet though, and I guess you just have to respect that.
I believe there will be more links to new goalkeepers come out over time though so it will be impossible to hide. We already keep seeing plenty of links to Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
Chelsea absolutely do need a new number one goalkeeper by the way, it’s a weakness for sure.
