Inter Milan are monitoring Lazio defender Mario Gila as a potential target for the January transfer window.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the 24-year-old’s pace makes him a particularly enticing target for the Nerazzurri.
Inter are thinking of signing a defender during the January transfer window.
The injuries to Francesco Acerbi, along with the fact that both he and Stefan de Vrij are well into their thirties have meant that the Nerazzurri have doubts about the reliability of current options at the back.
As such, Inter could move as soon as next month. They are looking at potential targets in the transfer market.
Inter Eye Up Lazio Defender Mario Gila For January
According to the Corriere della Sera, one idea that Inter have concerns Lazio defender Gila.
The Spaniard joined the Biancocelesti from Real Madrid in the summer of 2023.
And Gila has impressed during his time in the Italian capital so far. Particularly this season, where he’s been a regular starter under Marco Baroni.
Even with Lazio having just shipped six goals against Inter, Gila’s stock remains high.
One of the 24-year-old’s most outstanding attributes is his pace.
And this has really caught Inter’s eye.
Among Inter’s current defense options, there is no lack of height and physicality.
However, apart from Benjamin Pavard, the Nerazzurri do not have a central defender with notable pace and acceleration.
As such, Gila has caught Inter’s eye. The Spaniard could have the ideal profile to give Inter greater speed in defending counterattacks.
