Five League Cup quarter-final wins to remember

Ruben Amorim and his men will be eying up their first chance of silverware this season, as a huge game in north London stands between his squad and a two-legged semi-final.

As United face Tottenham on Thursday night in the Carabao Cup last eight, we recall five memorable League Cup quarter-finals over the years.

WAR OF THE ROSES

8/1/1992: Leeds (A) 3-1

We may have won the battle but, ultimately, not the war in the 1991/1992 season. Leeds were a formidable side who eventually won the final Division One campaign but we came out on top in a triple header. Second of which, was a 3-1 League Cup win at Elland Road, with Clayton Blackmore's outrageous free-kick equalising an opener from his fellow Welshman, Gary Speed.

Flying wingers Andrei Kanchelskis and Ryan Giggs both beat John Lukic to send the Reds through and we also beat the Yorkshire side away in the FA Cup third round, a week later, thanks to Mark Hughes's winner, following a 1-1 draw on enemy territory in the league at the end of the year.
