Evangelos Marinakis 'eyeing' triple appointment amid Nottingham Forest chief's global project

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is reportedly ready to make more than one appointment to the backroom team overseeing his stable of clubs.

Former Roma chief executive Lina Souloukou and ex-Arsenal sporting director Edu are both in line for jobs with the Greek businessman. And Marinakis is said to also have his eye on linking up with former Reds technical director Francois Modesto again.

In addition to Forest, Marinakis also owns Olympiacos in his homeland and Portuguese outfit Rio Ave. He is also keen to expand into Brazil, with Vasco da Gama in his sights.

Reports of Souloukou being set to join Marinakis’ portfolio of teams emerged earlier this month. According to TuttoMercatoWeb, she is “ready” to become the CEO of Marinakis’ group and would have a particular focus on the Reds.

She would work with Edu, who stepped down from his role at the Emirates Stadium last month. The Brazilian is currently on gardening leave for six months before he is expected to team up with Marinakis.

The shipping magnate is also reportedly keen to be reunited with Modesto, who is currently technical director at Monza. The Italian side are said to be “willing” to let him go.

Souloukou and Modesto worked together, for Marinakis, at Olympiacos. Together, they helped to oversee three consecutive championship titles from 2020 to 2022.

Both TuttoMercatoWeb and Greek publication Sport24 appear to suggest Marinakis is keen to expand into Italy. The latter state: “Currently, there are negotiations to add Vasco da Gama to the (Marinakis) teams, whose management is also in talks with Sampdoria boss Andrea Radricani.”

Marinakis recently outlined his big vision for a potential collaboration with Edu. He said: "What I can say is that I would like to cooperate with him on a much bigger project, a global project.

"I'm optimistic that in case all this goes ahead, it will be another successful venture for both of us. I'm very optimistic about it, but we need to see how this will be developed and will be finalised, if and when time allows.”
