Liverpool make decision on future of 22-year-old resurgent star, swap involving Real Madrid…

Ryan Gravenberch does not want to leave Liverpool, with the Reds not mulling over a swap deal involving the 22-year-old and Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

According to an update by reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Ryan Gravenberch has decided on his long-term Liverpool future. The 22-year-old resurgent midfielder is not mulling over parting ways with the Merseyside club. In addition, the Reds do not want to sell the young prospect or land Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni in a swap deal.

Ryan Gravenberch and his Liverpool rollercoaster

Ryan Gravenberch has embarked on a topsy-turvy ride since joining Liverpool from Bayern Munich in September 2023. The Dutchman endured a disastrous debut season at Anfield, struggling to establish a foothold in the middle of the park under Jurgen Klopp.

However, Arne Slot has brought the best out of the 22-year-old, with the resurgent midfielder becoming a mainstay in the middle of the park for Liverpool. The young midfield prospect has amassed nearly 2,000 minutes of game time across 21 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with one assist.

Meanwhile, Gravenberch’s progress this season has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Widespread reports have suggested that the Dutch midfielder is a target for Real Madrid, with Liverpool slapping a hefty eight-figure price tag on him.

La Liga adventure beckons?

Real Madrid can do with a player like Ryan Gravenberch. The reigning La Liga champions are scouring the market for a midfielder ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window, with Toni Kroos leaving a gaping hole in the midfield department at the Santiago Bernabeu. While the Liverpool prospect is not a like-for-like alternative, he can be the ideal foil for Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga.

However, the Dutchman does not want to leave Liverpool anytime soon as he is happy at Anfield amid his resurgent 2024/25 campaign. In addition, the Reds are not mulling over cashing in on the youngster, either in the January transfer window or the 2025 summer transfer window.

Florian Plettenberg has also suggested that a swap deal involving Gravenberch and Aurelien Tchouameni is not on the cards. So, the 22-year-old Dutch midfielder will remain with Liverpool for at least one more year, and Real Madrid must look elsewhere for a new midfielder.
