Aston Villa have been credited with an interest in 18-year-old striker Stefanos Tzimas.
As reported by Sky Sports Germany journalist Patrick Berger via X [16 December], the PAOK striker, who is playing on loan with FC Nürnberg this season, is of interest to Chelsea, Newcastle and Aston Villa.
Nürnberg plan to trigger their £14.9million buy option and sell Tzimas for a profit of £2.5-4.1million.
However, ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – doesn’t understand why Unai Emery’s side would want to sign this player, and thinks the club should be aiming higher.
“This is a very odd transfer rumour,” King said.
“I’m not sure why they’re messing around with this type of player when they already have two top-quality strikers. Instead of looking for another striker, Villa should be looking at players who can provide better service for Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran.

“It is one thing to be linked with a player. However, I think Villa should be looking at someone the level of Watkins or Duran if they’re going to bring another striker in.”
Aston Villa to sign Stefanos Tzimas?
If Tzimas were to join Villa next summer, he likely wouldn’t get much game time.
Emery already has both Watkins and Duran at his disposal, while the future of Louie Barry remains very much up in the air. Therefore, it seems odd that Villa are looking at signing another striker.
However, it could potentially indicate that one of Watkins or Duran could quit Villa, which likely wouldn’t go down well among supporters.

However, it seems that would be the only logical scenario where Villa would need to sign another striker. Therefore, unless it is a big name, fans likely won’t want to hear any more updates on strikers moving to the West Midlands.
In other Aston Villa news, Chelsea have been tipped to sign one player at the club amid a contract development.
