Reason Mauricio Pochettino was in crowd for Arsenal vs Crystal Palace

Three of the four semi-finalists in the Carabao Cup have now been confirmed. Arsenal came from behind to beat Crystal Palace, Newcastle saw off Brentford and Liverpool held off Southampton.

One place remains up for grabs, with Spurs and Manchester United going head-to-head at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night.

Will former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino be in attendance though? Pochettino spent five years in N17, overseeing the best period in Spurs' Premier League history, getting the club in title contention and into the final of the Champions League during his reign.

His spell with the Lilywhites ended in 2019, but he still has a fondness for the club, despite spending last season as head coach of one of Spurs' biggest rivals in Chelsea.

Pochettino may decide to watch the clash in N17, because he is back in London at the moment. He was spotted in the crowd, alongside his trusted assistant Jesus Perez, as Arsenal took on Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

Whether he decides to watch his old club in action remains to be seen, but there was a good reason for Pochettino being in the crowd at the Emirates Stadium, although it turned out to be a wasted trip for the 52-year-old.

Pochettino is now the head coach of the USA national team and has overseen four straight wins since taking charge of USMNT in September. And he would have been in the crowd to watch two of the US players in action.

Goalkeeper Matt Turner - a former Arsenal player - is now on the books of Palace, with centre-back Chris Richards also in Oliver Glasner's Eagles team. However, unfortunately for Pochettino, neither player was named in the starting lineup for the match at the Emirates Stadium and neither made it off the bench either, making it a bit of a wasted trip.

He did at least get to see a five-goal thriller, with Arsenal coming out on top 3-2. Neither Spurs nor Manchester United have any US players in their ranks, so it would just be a personal visit were Pochettino and Perez to be at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night.
