Everton may have been battling relegation these past few years, but it mustn’t be forgotten just how big a club the Toffees are.
Indeed, while Everton’s current Premier League position isn’t ideal, the club still have tremendous pulling power.
Everton have managed to lure in some big names in recent times as the likes of James Rodriguez, Romelu Lukaku and Wayne Rooney have all pulled on the famous blue shirt in recent years.
However, perhaps the biggest name to represent Everton in recent times is Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian is undoubtedly one of the greatest managers of all-time, and speaking to Sky Sports, Anthony Gordon has been discussing the Ancelotti-era on Merseyside.
The winger says that he was very surprised when Ancelotti came to Everton.

Anthony Gordon shocked when Carlo Ancelotti came to Everton
Gordon spoke about working under Ancelotti.
The attacker says he found it weird that such a big manager would come to Everton when they are struggling, but that speaks to the fact that Everton are a big club.
Ancelotti gave Gordon chances at Everton, and he played a big part in his early rise.
“We’ll start with Ancelotti actually. He’s one of the biggest names, what was he like to work under?” Gordon was asked.
“It was crazy really. Him to come to Everton at that time when we were struggling, such a big name to come in was weird really,” Gordon said.
“Were you surprised when it happened?” Gordon was asked.
“Yeah, very surprised. He gave me my debut, but I think I was too young to take in how good of a manager he was, but he’s a top guy and a top manager,” Gordon said.
Everton’s managerial history
Everton are such a bizarre club because you can never truly predict who the next manager in their dugout will be at any moment.
Indeed, Everton are one of the only teams in world football who could hire Sam Allardyce and Carlo Ancelotti within a few years of one another and it make absolute sense.
Of course, Ancelotti isn’t the only big-name manager to take charge at Everton in recent years.
Everton manager history
David Moyes
Roberto Martinez
Ronald Koeman
Sam Allardyce
Marco Silva
Carlo Ancelotti
Rafa Benitez
Frank Lampard
Sean Dyche
Say what you will about some of these names, some of them have incredible CVs.
Rafa Benitez, much like Ancelotti is a Champions League winning former Real Madrid manager, while Ronald Koeman would go on to get the Barcelona job.
David Moyes managed Manchester United in one of the biggest managerial moves in history, while Roberto Martinez is the current Portugal coach.
Sean Dyche is perhaps the smallest name of the bunch, and he could soon be replaced by a more glamourous coach.
Jose Mourinho has been linked to Everton at times this season, while Maurizio Sarri has been mentioned as a potential Sean Dyche replacement too.
Who knows? Perhaps Everton could have another big-name manager through the door again soon.
