Enzo Fernandez's ex-fiancee Valentina Cervantes has opened up on their split
Enzo Fernandez's ex-fiancee has revealed how the Chelsea star suddenly ended their relationship despite having two children together.
Fernandez had been with Valentina Cervantes since they were teenagers, when the midfielder played for Argentinian side River Plate, before she fell pregnant aged 19 and later moved with him to Benfica and Chelsea.
The 23-year-old cost Chelsea £107million after he signed in 2023 following his World Cup triumph with Argentina. The pair moved into a property in London with their daughter Olivia and son Benjamin, living there for almost two years before Fernandez delivered the shock news to his partner in October.
Speaking to Game, Set & Match, Cervantes said: "Everything was fine and suddenly one day he told me that he didn't want to be [with me] anymore. There are things that I still have to process, but that's it, I accepted it."

She said she cried for five minutes after he broke the news and added that she rejected his offer to let her and the children remain in the house with him - and ended up moving back to Argentina.
"Enzo offered me to stay in the same house where we lived and told me that he was going to rent another place, but I told him I would go back to Argentina for my family. Because I gave everything in that relationship and I don’t regret anything, but everything I did was for him and for the family we formed."
Cervantes also spoke of how she spent all her salary on Fernandez during the early days of his football career as she juggled a restaurant job with studying for a law degree. She said: "At that time I earned more than his [club] gave him, we spent my entire salary, I had nothing left to save."
Fernandez has been in top form for Chelsea this season
When asked if she still loved Fernandez, she added: "I think love is still there because it is very difficult for it to leave so quickly. I don’t depend on a man or anyone to be happy. With the company of my children I will always be happy."
In another interview with Minuto Uno, she went on: "Everyone takes it and goes through different processes, I tried to go for the healthier side. I love Enzo, I would never disrespect him. He is a person who accompanied me for many years and I also accompanied him, and I will continue to accompany him."
Fernandez's split with Cervantes has coincided with some inspired form from the midfielder at Chelsea. He has three goals and four assists in his last six matches, becoming a key component in Enzo Maresca's midfield as he helps the Blues battle for the title.
He has played 20 times for Chelsea in all competitions this season, scoring three times, recently forming impressive partnerships with both Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo.
