West Ham absolutely nailed it by selling 27-yo to Nottingham Forest after just 13 goals in 3…

West Ham United got it spot on by selling a forward to Nottingham Forest, and his dismal recent form proves that.

Selling players hasn’t always been West Ham United’s forte.

Either we’ve let them leave for ridiculously small fees, or they have gone on to really impress after exiting the London Stadium.

Some examples of this are the likes of Sebastien Haller, Thilo Kehrer and Felipe Anderson.

West Ham are said to have some exciting plans for the January window, but I don’t imagine that Julen Lopetegui will have an endless pot of money at his disposal.

In order to increase our spending power going forward, the Hammers need to get better at selling players at the right time.

That said, there is one success story in particular that many West Ham fans may well have forgotten about.

West Ham nailed it by selling Xande Silva to Nottingham Forest

The Hammers sold the now 27-year-old striker to Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2021 for what seemed at the time to be a measly £200,000 fee.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

Xande Silva really struggled to establish himself at the City Ground after he left West Ham, and he failed to score a single goal in 10 games for Forest (Transfermarkt).

What’s more, he has bagged just 13 goals for three different clubs since he left the Hammers three-and-a-half years ago.

Silva is plying his trade out in the United States now with Atlanta United in the MLS.

The Portuguese striker’s record in America is quite frankly awful, with just seven goals to his name in 43 games for Atlanta.

It seemed like the forward was a precocious talent when the Hammers brought him to the London Stadium from Vitoria Guimaraes in 2018.

And many West Ham fans were disappointed when we sold Xande Silva to Nottingham Forest for just £200k in 2021.

However, the Hammers owners have been proven right for letting him leave the club for such a relatively paltry amount of money.

It’s nice for us to have been on the right side of a deal for a change.
