Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon has worked with some very good managers.
The 23-year-old continues to play the best football of his career under Eddie Howe, with the Newcastle United winger proving to be one of the Magpies’ most important players.
But he made his debut as a teenager at Everton when Carlo Ancelotti was in charge, and he is one of the most reputable managers in world football. The Real Madrid manager has won it all as a player and a coach, as he continues to add to his incredible legacy.
Elsewhere, Anthony Gordon played for former Toon favourite Rafa Benitez at Everton, as well as England and Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.
Most recently, Gordon played in an England shirt under Lee Carsley, who the Scouser has immense respect for.

Anthony Gordon compares Eddie Howe to Carlo Ancelotti
But what makes each manager different? Well, Gordon has given the answer.
During an interview with Sky Sports, Gordon compared the styles of Eddie Howe, Carlo Ancelotti, Frank Lampard and Lee Carsley, with the Toon winger asked to name which coach has had the biggest influence on his career.
“I think them two [Ancelotti and Carsley] are similar in terms of style,” he said.

“Whereas Frank Lampard and Eddie Howe are a bit more intense.”
Eddie Howe has transformed Anthony Gordon at Newcastle
While Ancelotti is the most decorated manager that Gordon has played for, the £40million man has admitted that Howe has been a bigger influence. Given what he has achieved at St James’ Park, that is no surprise.
“If you’re talking influence, I have to go Eddie Howe,” he said.
“I’ve had my best footballing years under him and his staff. My style is perfect for the way he wants to coach his team, and I want someone to demand those high expectations of me.”
Since moving to Newcastle United, Gordon has developed into a different player. He has improved massively since swapping Goodison Park for St James’ Park, with Howe helping Gordon achieve the potential he has always had.
Newcastle’s deal to sign Gordon was questioned at the time, as the Magpies paid big money for him in January 2023. But he has proven to be one of Howe’s best signings on Tyneside, and there is even more to come.
Gordon recently signed a new Newcastle contract, committing his best years to the Magpies. He is a fan favourite at St James’ Park, which is largely because of the influence that Howe has had on his game.
