Everton have had a slow start to the season and there is plenty of work to be done in the second half of the season.

Sean Dyche’s side sit just three points above the relegation zone meaning the upcoming January transfer window could be crucial.

With the Friedkin Group’s takeover at Goodison Park set to be completed at any moment, there will be some hope of transfers in the transfer window that could make a difference.

One name linked with the Toffees is Evan Ferguson as Dean Jones revealed on the Ranks Podcast [18 December] that the striker is available for loan in the second half of the season.

However, Jones advised the player to go elsewhere as he said: “At the moment, Ferguson, when you’re looking at links, it’s looking like Leicester or Everton or Southampton.

“Go to West Ham.

“Ferguson, I think, is tailor made for the job that they’ve got in the second half of the season and it won’t suprise me of this one actually ends up coming true.”

Evan Ferguson would be a strong signing for Everton

The Toffees find themselves in a somewhat similar position to West Ham this season. Both clubs are struggling to perform on a consistent basis and there is pressure on both bosses as they seek more success.

However, Everton could prove to Ferguson that they are a more attractive prospect for the striker in the January transfer window which could be a lot easier to do once a takeover has been completed as the Blues will be looking forward to a new era at Goodison.

The Merseyside outfit have struggled for goals this term and have only scored 14 goals so far with players like Dominic Calvert-Lewin coming up short in front of goal meaning they could do with attacking reinforcements.

This also means they would be able to give the 20-year-old some regular minutes as he looks to get going in the Premier League this season.

It is essential that Dyche’s side stay in the top flight this season ahead of their move to a new ground and therefore they need all the help they can get to make it happen. Securing this loan deal could show that the club mean business going forward.
