Manchester United recently appointed Ruben Amorim to replace Erik ten Hag and another Portuguese coach is now heading to the Premier League.
Manchester United wasted no time in choosing Erik ten Hag’s replacement.
United appointed Ruben Amorim just days after sacking Ten Hag and were even prepared to wait for him to arrive from Sporting.
Amorim is now settling in at United and has his first major victory under his belt having beaten Manchester City 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The attention turns to the EFL Trophy on Thursday night as United travel to take on Tottenham Hotspur.
Amorim could reach a cup semi-final and will then turn his attention back to Premier League action.

Premier League club appoint Portuguese manager
Amorim has only been in the United job for a matter of weeks but is set to be joined in English football by another Portuguese coach.
Wolverhampton Wanderers sacked Gary O’Neil on Sunday, less than 24 hours after a home defeat to Ipswich Town.
MORE UNITED STORIES
Wolves – just like United – have moved quickly to zone in on their top target with Vitor Pereira taking the hot seat.
Formerly of Porto, Olympiacos, Fenerbahce and Flamengo, Pereira now heads to Molineux from Saudi Arabian side Al Shabab.
Pereira’s appointment is certainly an interesting one given that he has been something of a managerial nomad in recent years.
Just weeks ago, Pereira told the Premier League’s official website that he thinks Amorim will create a ‘masterpiece’ at Old Trafford.
Pereira praised Amorim for his empathy and communication skills, believing that he is an incredibly likeable coach.
Pereira believes that Amorim will be successful at United if given the right backing, having done a ‘spectacular’ job at Sporting.
“Ruben Amorim has done a spectacular job and has set the highest standards,” said Pereira.
“From a tactical point of view, he’s a coach who has reached the top levels of world soccer. He has been influenced by other coaches during his career as a coach and a player.
“He works really hard with a lot of attention to detail and what really stands out are his tactical and communication skills. If I have to choose one main characteristic, then it is his empathy. As soon as he starts speaking, you like him.”
“At Sporting, he had all the conditions that allowed him to do his job. He had the confidence of everyone there, as well as a solid structure.
”If that happens at Manchester United, he will be successful. I believe that in a more evolved, higher quality environment, such as the Premier League, he will continue his development and, with the necessary conditions, he can once again produce a masterpiece, this time in Manchester,” he added.
Vitor Pereira and Amorim will lock horns soon
Pereira is set to take charge of Wolves for their Premier League clash against Leicester City this weekend but will then lock horns with Amorim.
United travel to Molineux to take on Wolves on Boxing Day, giving Pereira a very early chance to pit his wits against Amorim.
Pereira’s last job in Portugal was with Porto way back in 2013, so he has never managed against Amorim.
This is a game United will be looking to win and Amorim would no doubt love to beat Pereira as part of friendly competition with his compatriot – and with a view to ending 2024 on a high ahead of a huge 2025.
