Tottenham’s Archie Gray names the Arsenal player he’d most like to play with

It’s very rare to hear a Tottenham player say something nice about an Arsenal player.

Indeed, Tottenham and Arsenal are the most bitter of rivals on and off the pitch, and, wherever possible, these two sides’ players avoid speaking highly of one another.

However, sometimes, you do see players from the north London rivals praising one another.

James Maddison recently praised Declan Rice’s shooting ability, while Spurs legend Harry Kane has been happy to hail Bukayo Saka for his performances for England.

Speaking to the EFL, Archie Gray has now reserved some praise for an Arsenal player as he picked his dream five-a-side team made up of players still in the EFL Cup.

Archie Gray picks William Saliba in his dream five-a-side team

Gray was tasked with picking a dream five-a-side team made up of players who were in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

Gray was forced to pick an Arsenal player, and it would’ve been fair for Gray to be reticent about picking a player from his rivals.

However, the midfielder was more than happy to pick William Saliba in his team.

Saliba is the best defender in the world in the eyes of many, and Gray chose him as the one Arsenal player he’d want in his team.

Archie Gray’s dream five-a-side team

Gray didn’t just pick Saliba, he picked a whole five-a-side team made up of players who are in Carabao Cup action this week.

Gray may only be a young player, but he certainly knows his stuff when it comes to football as he’s picked a stellar side here.

Position Archie Gray’s dream 5-a-side team

Goalkeeper Alisson

Defender William Saliba

Midfielder Kobbie Mainoo

Attacker Alexander Isak

Attacker Bryan Mbeumo

Gray’s team would give any side a run for their money, as Saliba and Alisson wouldn’t concede many at the back, while Alexander Isak and Bryan Mbeumo would be amazing in a five-a-side game.

Kobbie Mainoo certainly has the ball control to dominate a small-sided game, but Mainoo does lack pace so perhaps that would be a problem in the midfield.

Gray will get the chance to face-off against Mainoo in the cup on Thursday evening, and that will certainly be an interesting battle between two of the brightest young midfield talents in English football.

Spurs are desperate to end their trophy drought, and this game against United on Thursday could ultimately be season-defining.
