Manchester United legend Roy Keane believes Marcus Rashford may take inspiration from players like Jadon Sancho who have left Old Trafford and gone on to revive their careers elsewhere.
Rashford spoke out this week to confirm that he is seeking a “new challenge” and, asked by Gary Neville on The Overlap whether Sancho’s move to Chelsea would have played a part in his decision, Keane replied:
“Of course. Obviously, that’s the way he is thinking.”

In the same podcast, Keane actively encouraged Rashford to leave the Red Devils, stating that it is the only way the 27-year-old can rediscover his hunger for football.
Rashford is not in the squad to face Tottenham
The fact that the England international has been omitted from the matchday squad for the second match in a row suggests that his future lies away from Manchester.
Rashford was not involved in the 2-1 win over rivals City at the weekend and head coach Ruben Amorim has also opted to leave him out for the Carabao Cup tie against Tottenham on Thursday evening.
What does the future hold for the United star?
Amorim has expressed a desire to keep Rashford, stating that he could still return to United’s starting eleven, but the public comments from the player suggest that he has already made up his mind about leaving the club.
The main stumbling block to a potential transfer happening in January or at the end of the season will be the forward’s salary. He currently takes home a basic wage in excess of £300,000 a week.
Unless Rashford is open to moving to Saudi Arabia, he will have to be willing to take a substantial pay cut in order to secure a switch away from Old Trafford. We shall see if he is prepared to do that.
