Johan Bakayoko has already dropped hints about his PSV Eindhoven future amid reported Newcastle United interest.

Dutch outlet Voetbal Krant reported yesterday that the Magpies are close to agreeing a deal for the winger. Bakayoko - valued at €50million - has six goals and three assists across all competitions.

The 21-year-old already has 18 caps for Belgium and is regarded as one of Europe’s top attacking prospects. Newcastle are understood to have identified a right-sided attacker as a problem area having not signed once since the Saudi-backed takeover.

Yankuba Minteh, who came as a youth player, joined last year but did not kick a ball in black-and-white stripes before being sold to Brighton. Signing PSV sensation Bakayoko would be a marquee addition - with Toon fans desperate for a breakthrough following two lean transfer windows.

And they can take comfort in the winger’s comments earlier this year. Speaking in July, Bakayoko hinted at a possible PSV exit - but hopes to join a club competing for major honours.

"I think I've never radiated a moment that I play here reluctantly. The holiday was shortly after the European Championships, but it's great to get back to PSV. Last season's vibe is still there."
