Las Palmas have had an excellent resurgence of form since Diego Martinez arrived as head coach, and one player that has stood out during this run is midfielder Dario Essugo. The 19-year-old, who joined on loan from Sporting CP in the summer, has impressed, and as a result, suitors are starting to pile up.
It’s expected that Essugo will return to Sporting at the end of the season, although he could return to La Liga for the 2025-26 season (and beyond). As reported by [La Provincia](https://www.laprovincia.es/ud-las-palmas/2024/12/17/essugo-pulmon-ud-palmas-explota-112678833.html), Real Madrid and Barcelona are both keeping tabs on the Portuguese teenager, who has a €45m release clause.
For Barcelona, Essugo would not be a top priority signings as they already have several midfield options that are available to Hansi Flick. However, [Real Madrid](https://www.football-espana.net/category/la-liga/real-madrid) could see him as a much-needed addition, given that they need to recruit someone that can act as a replacement to Toni Kroos, who left the club last summer.
