Meanwhile, the Dortmundman is still going strong and could be entering his prime now. He was vital in Dortmund’s road to the 2024 UCL final.
Chelsea want Gregor Kobel
The Blues currently have Robert Sanchez starting in goal for them. He is doing a fine job for them at the moment. But he looks to be shaky and inconsistent. If the London-based club are wanting to challenge for major titles, they will need some rock-solid stability at the back. Chelsea believe that Gregor Kobel could be the man for them. At the same time, they are hopeful that the 27-year-old could go on to become the best goalkeeper in the world, period. No solid moves have been made yet. But if a transfer were to go through, pricing him away won’t be that easy.
A summer move on the horizon?
As per thechelseachronicle, the Blues will try to sign the goalkeeper in the summer of 2025. But it won’t be an easy transfer in any way. Replacing him would be quite difficult for BVB. Other than the fact that he is a great keeper, he is also a good leader. Gregor Kobel often leads the lineup now. Chelsea are doing exceptionally well so far this season. But defense remains a key area they need to strengthen. Signing the 27-year-old star could help them along the way big time. It will be interesting to see if the Blues are able to pull a move off for the Swiss international.
