Anthony Gordon was linked to Liverpool in the summer, and now, he’s hailed one of the Reds’ players.
The Newcastle winger has been discussing some of the best wingers in Premier League history, and, inevitably, the conversation turned to Mohamed Salah.
Salah is Gordon’s greatest opponent according to the player himself, and speaking to Sky Sports, the winger has hailed the Egyptian.
Indeed, Gordon says that Salah is an elite player, and he believes he still doesn’t get the credit he deserves.
Salah has been tipped as a Ballon d’Or winner this year, but, somehow, Gordon still thinks the winger is underrated.

Mohamed Salah is underrated
Gordon spoke about Salah and his ability.
The Newcastle star called Salah a machine, claiming that he’s the best winger is the best he’s ever seen in the Premier League.
Paul Merson also believes Salah is underrated.
“I think he’s a machine. I think to be at the top for so long the way he has, if you look at his stats from the first season he joined Liverpool he’s just been so consistently elite. Playing in the Prem every week as a winger I know how it is,” Gordon said.
“Does he get the credit he deserves?” Gordon was asked.
“I think he’s starting to. For me he’s the best winger I’ve seen in the Prem and maybe when he retires he will get that from other people but right now maybe he doesn’t get as much as he deserves.”
Anthony Gordon compared to Mohamed Salah
Gordon is a top player in his own right, but, as he says, Salah is on that elite level.
Liverpool looked at signing Gordon this summer, but if they did splash the cash on the Englishman, he’d have a tough task in replicating Salah’s incredible form.

As the numbers show, Salah is just on another level to Gordon, but Gordon could get there one day.
Indeed, at Gordon’s age, Salah wasn’t doing anything special as he was toling at Chelsea before exploding at Liverpool.

Gordon sees Salah as a role model, and if he can follow the Egyptian’s lead, who knows? Perhaps he could reach that sort of level someday.
Gordon certainly has the pace to match Salah, but he needs to work on that end product if he wants to reach that next gear and become a truly world-class footballer.
