Celtic fans would have had a smile on their face as Kieran Tierney made a long-awaited return to action for Arsenal.
These have been troubling times for the left-back because he has suffered numerous injury issues at Arsenal, including for Scotland at Euro 2024.
That was the last time Tierney was in action – Scotland’s 1-1 draw with Switzerland in June – and he made his return as Mikel Arteta’s side beat Crystal Palace in the League Cup on Wednesday night.
Just after the hour mark, the Celtic hero was forced off, with many fearing that it was another injury, but it was a simple case of him suffering from cramp.
That’s understandable given that he hasn’t played for six months, but many were delighted with his return.
Not just Arsenal and Celtic fans applauding his comeback, but current and former teammates raving about him on Instagram.

Tierney stated on Instagram that it ‘feels amazing to be back’ and he is ‘always grateful’ for the reception he received.
In the comments section of his IG post, Scott Brown sent fire emojis to his former teammate and Emile Smith Rowe added by saying ‘love it, bro’.

Celtic return for Tierney?
It’s what Celtic fans dream of and what a reunion it would be with Brendan Rodgers!
The left-back situation at the club is an interesting one because Greg Taylor’s contract runs out next summer, just like Tierney’s does at Arsenal.
The back-up option is on-loan Barcelona star Alex Valle and you presume he will return to his parent club next season, whilst Alexandro Bernabei is thriving for Internacional in Brazil.
It opens the door for Tierney to come back and The Daily Mail have reported that he is ‘open’ to taking a ‘substantial’ pay cut from his £120k-a-week deal and come back to Celtic.
