Report: There is now a growing awareness £100,000-a-week player will leave Arsenal in 2025

Arsenal are currently on course to lose a handful of senior players for nothing in 2025.

Unless contract extensions are offered, the likes of Kieran Tierney – who impressed against Crystal Palace on Wednesday – Thomas Partey and Jorginho will be leaving the Emirates Stadium for free in June.

The same can be said of Raheem Sterling and Neto when their loans from Chelsea and Bournemouth respectively come to an end.

However – according to the Daily Mail – there is another player at Arsenal now expected to leave in the summer.

Arsenal expect Reiss Nelson to leave

Sami Mokbel has now revealed there is a growing awareness inside the Emirates Stadium that Reiss Nelson will depart on a permanent basis this summer.

The man from Elephant and Castle – who is currently on loan at Fulham, where he has scored two goals in 13 appearances – still has a contract with the Gunners running until June 2027.

However, the Daily Mail believe Arsenal expect Nelson to leave during the summer transfer window of 2025.

Mokbel explains there is an acceptable under Mikel Arteta that the £100,000-a-week winger will not receive much playing time next season, so the Gunners feel it is best for all parties that he leaves.

Financially, a sale in the coming summer makes sense for Arsenal, as Nelson’s value would drop significantly once 2026 arrives – by which point he will only have 18 months remaining on his deal.

Mikel Arteta could bid for Nico Williams if Reiss Nelson is sold

Arsenal clearly feel Nelson – who Thierry Henry admires – is not the answer out wide, but that doesn’t mean Arteta is entirely satisfied with his options.

Gabriel Martinelli is struggling with only four goals in 22 appearances this season, with Arsenal lacking a distinct threat to mirror Bukayo Saka’s effectiveness on the right flank.

As such, Arteta is said to be obsessed with Nico Williams, the Athletic Bilbao No.10 who helped fire Spain to UEFA Euro 2024 glory last summer.

The Spaniard typically cuts inside from the left flank onto his stronger right foot – the exact style of winger Arsenal need – so if a buyer is found for Nelson, that money could well be put towards a bid for the man from Pamplona.
