Railston: 'I liked it' - Ruben Amorim praises Alejandro Garnacho for responding to Manchester…

Ruben Amorim has praised Alejandro Garnacho for working hard in training after being dropped from Manchester United's squad against [Manchester City](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/all-about/manchester-city-fc) last weekend.

The _Manchester Evening News_ revealed on Wednesday that Marcus Rashford was not with the squad to face Tottenham and his absence was made official on Thursday night.

Matthijs de Ligt is also absent due to illness and Amorim has picked Leny Yoro, Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez to start in his back three. Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui are starting in the wing-back positions. The latter has overcome a knock he picked up in the Manchester derby.

Manuel Ugarte and Christian Eriksen have been selected to start in midfield and Antony, Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund will start in the attacking positions.

Garnacho has been welcomed back into the squad after being made to train at Carrington on the morning of the Manchester derby and he will start on the bench.

Amorim was asked about Garnacho by Sky Sports and said: "Good, like the others, he's prepared to play the game and I really like the way he trained, so it's one more option for the offence. He's really fast, he's good in one against one and we need this kind of ability from Garnacho. He is ready to help us."

United's head coach added: "Every game we play is really important because it's a message to our fans. We don't look at is it a cup game or a [Premier League](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/all-about/premier-league) game, it's just one more game that we have to win.

"Winning cups or not could change for the supporters but my goal is to improve the team. Of course we want to win trophies but the trophy we want to win in the future is the Premier League and that's on my mind.

"Our club demands that we have to fight for every title but in my head it's winning the Premier League, so I will do the steps that I think we need to win the Premier League."

When asked about Rashford's omission, Amorim said: "Selection. I have chosen the players who are ready to cope with the demands of playing a strong game.

"So I try to visualise that all week and then choose my players, so just selection. It's always the same with every player, not just Marcus. In the end, I have to make a selection and did it."
