Chelsea, Liverpool dealt blow in pursuit of 21-year-old Bundesliga attacker on Barcelona, Real…

Chelsea and Liverpool have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Jamal Musiala as he wants to move to Spain amidst interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

According to Graeme Bailey via TBR, Jamal Musiala is keen on playing in Spain where Real Madrid and Barcelona are both keen on his signature. While Premier League giants Chelsea and Liverpool are also interested in the Bayern Munich star, they have suffered a blow as he wants to play in La Liga.

Musiala was a part of the Chelsea youth setup back in the day. He had to shift to Germany in 2019 because of family reasons and he ended up joining Bayern Munich’s youth ranks. Just 12 months down the line, he got promoted to their first team and hasn’t looked back since.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder is considered to be one of the best young players in the world and there is no shortage of interest in his services. With the German international’s contract at Bayern running out in 2026, there is a lot of uncertainty around his future.

The Bavarians were confident about extending his stay at the club. They have been working on a potential renewal for the past six months but they haven’t made any progress yet. With just over 18 months left on his deal, multiple top clubs are keeping a close eye on his situation.

Premier League clubs suffer a blow

Chelsea and Liverpool are two clubs that have been in constant contact with his agents to stay updated on his situation as they do not want to miss out on an opportunity to sign him.

The Blues have had him in their ranks back in the day and they want to bring him back to Stamford Bridge as he is a perfect fit for their new project that revolves around the best young player.

Meanwhile, the Reds believe he could be their next star with Mohamed Salah’s future uncertain. He can feature as a ten as well as on the flanks which will provide Arne Slot with a lot of flexibility.

Musiala wants to play in La Liga

While both English clubs are keen, they have suffered a blow as Bailey has suggested that Musiala sees himself playing his football in Spain. He wants to play in La Liga where Real Madrid and Barcelona have been monitoring him.

Both clubs are constantly on the lookout for players who can further bolster their squad and Musiala could be an exceptional addition to both teams. The Catalan giants will struggle to finance a move for the German international.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos can afford to sign him and with Toni Kroos no longer at the club and Luka Modric potentially in his last season, they would love to bring in someone like Musiala.
