West Ham need to forget about six-goal striker, transfer links are so underwhelming - opinion

With West Ham United struggling for goals and Niclas Fullkrug having fitness issues, it is not a surprise that the Hammers are in the market for a new striker.

West Ham have scored 21 goals in 16 Premier League matches so far this season. Fullkrug, who joined the Hammers from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2024, has found the back of the net once in six competitive appearances.

The Hammers have already reportedly bid for Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto. Middlesbrough striker Emmanuel Latte Lath has also been linked.

Another striker who is reported to be on the radar of West Ham is Hamza Igamane. According to mountakhab.net, the Hammers are among a number of Premier League clubs who have shown interest in the Rangers player.

Igamane is just 22. The Moroccan forward made the move to Rangers from AS FAR in the summer of 2024.

The striker has scored six goals and given two assists in 17 matches in all competitions for Rangers this season, according to Transfermarkt.

While Igamane is a talented and promising young striker who has been compared to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, he is very young and is playing only in the Scottish Premiership.

The striker is one for the future, and even then, just because he is doing relatively well in Scotland does not mean that he will star in the Premier League.

Yes, it is hard to get a top-quality striker in the middle of a season, but West Ham need to aim higher than bringing in a player from a Scottish Premiership club who sit third in the league table and are not challenging for the title.

If West Ham are to re-establish themselves among the clubs who regularly challenge for the European places in the Premier League table, then they need to sign a striker who is better and more experienced than Igamane.
