Everton executives likely leaving the club deserve praise for overseeing the takeover and building the new stadium, Stefan Borson has said.
The football finance expert posted on X (19 December) in the wake of Friedkin completing his buyout of Farhad Moshiri on Merseyside, saying the executive team are part of an “amazing” achievement.
Only interim CEO Colin Chong – a previous appointment of Moshiri’s – has been confirmed to be staying on the Goodison Park board for now, with Friedkin inheriting the nearly complete stadium.
Borson said: “Not many people will praise the executive management team at Everton, but to handle what has happened in the last three years whilst building a stadium, and to then get a deal like this over the line is an amazing achievement – especially when they have probably put themselves out of jobs.”

Moshiri’s tenure at Goodison was up some time ago in the eyes of many an Evertonian after years of haphazard spending came back to bite him – and the club – in the form of PSR breaches.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
Surviving relegation last season despite two separate points deductions, the Toffees faithful have been hoping for changes to be made going back years, and it seems Moshiri’s attitude has been similar.
The outgoing owner’s boardroom was made up of those loyal to him for the last few months, and therefore it’s no surprise that Chong aside, Friedkin brings with him an all-new executive team.
That executive team must hit the ground running to give life to the new era with plenty on the to-do list, not least the immediate and long-term future of Sean Dyche in the Goodison Park dugout.
Relocating to their new home on Liverpool’s waterfront could breathe new life into the Toffees’ fortunes both on and off the pitch, and that could prove to be the outgoing boardroom’s lasting legacy.
In other Everton news, Jamie Carragher has spotted a worrying trend with the club’s new signings since Sean Dyche’s arrival.
