Aston Villa midfielder Missy Bo Kearns has undergone surgery on a foot injury and will be ruled out of action for four weeks.
The Villans announced the news earlier today via a post on their offcial club website.
It has been reported that the 23-year-old’s surgery was planned and while she will be sidelined for four weeks, her absence will be limited given the winter break. Aston Villa return to action when they face Bristol Rovers in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup on Sunday 12 January 2025. Kearns may still be sidelined going into that game.
Kearns joined Aston Villa in the summer after opting to leave former club Liverpool. The midfielder has featured heavily for her new side in the first half of the season. Kearns has made nine appearances for The Villans in all competitions to date. With Aston Villa looking to build in the second half of the campaign, Kearns has an important role to play.
Aston Villa entered the winter break in seventh position in the Barclays Women’s Super League table. The Midlands club have endured a difficult first half of the season which has seen them struggle for wins while manager Robert de Pauw recently departed. The Villans’ two league wins have come in their last three matches therefore their form does seem to be on the turn for the better.
