Joe Cole thinks 'brilliant' Chelsea player has just sent a message to Enzo Maresa in Conference League win

Chelsea wrapped up the group stages of the Conference League in emphatic fashion tonight with a 5-1 win over Shamrock Rovers.

Marc Guiu enjoyed a night to remember at Stamford Bridge, scoring a first half hat-trick to take his tally for the competition up to six for the campaign.

Enzo Maresca was able to hand starts to recent first team graduates Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong another start for the club, with them continuing their good form in Europe.

It was actually quite a strong side named by the Blues for the final game of the group stage, even if they were already comfortably into the Round of 16 of the competition.

Noni Madueke sends Enzo Maresca message with Chelsea performance

Marc Cucurella and Noni Madueke kept their starting places from the Premier League win over Brentford, with the Spaniard finding the net in back-to-back games.

Madueke had a brilliant performance before he was replaced at half-time, with competition for places on the wings extremely high right now.

Joe Cole believes that Madueke has sent a message to his manager after he called him out earlier this season.

He said to TNT Sports: “Noni Madueke has been brilliant. Chelsea are used to signing established players who are ready to go. The manager [Enzo Maresca] called Madueke out about his training.

“Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho come in and have done fantastic, but that’s the nature of the beast at a big club, there’s a competitive side for places.”

Will Madueke start against Everton?

The question on everyone’s lips now is who will start on the wings for Chelsea when they take on Everton at the weekend.

The Blues have a chance to move to top of the Premier League table temporarily with a win, and Sancho is likely to keep his place after a string of impressive Premier League displays.

It is who starts on the right that is going to be the real question, and Madueke has certainly made his case to the boss that it should be him trusted with those minutes.
