Stephen McGowan says Tierney willing to take Celtic paycut

Reliable journalist Stephen McGowan has said that Kieran Tierney is willing to take a pay cut to sign for Celtic. The Scotland Internationalist will leave Arsenal at the end of the season under freedom of contract and has been heavily linked with a return to Celtic.

As reported by [Mail Sport](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-14208043/Celtic-keen-Tierney-reunion-injury-hit-Scotland-told-Arsenal-contract-wont-extended.html), McGowan has updated fans to say that Celtic are keen on making a move for Tierney with the player open to the wage cut that a move would involve.

Tierney is on £120k per week but will require to take a substantial wage cut if he were to return to Celtic. The likelihood is that he would be one of the club’s highest earners if he were to return but it would still be a substantial cut for the 47-capped fullback.

Tierney made 170 appearances for Celtic between 2015 and 2019. During his time at the club, he scored 8 goals and provided 37 assists across all competitions. The player would represent a huge signing for Celtic given his quality and connection to the club. Reports have suggested that Celtic are exploring a pre contract and a loan back to the club in January, this would excite supporters. The news might also hasten the situation with Greg Taylor, who is out of contract this summer too.
