The January transfer window is less than two weeks away now, and it could prove to be vital for Liverpool this season.
Arne Slot’s side is of course in a strong position to win some silverware this season. The Reds lead the way in both the Premier League and Champions League standings, while a Carabao Cup semi-final lies in wait in the New Year.
But with injuries taking their toll, and question marks still surrounding the futures of Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, Liverpool may well need to dip into the market in order to strengthen its title credentials.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today, including the latest on Antonee Robinson and Rayan Cherki.
Antonee Robinson (Fulham)
Manchester United is considering a move for Antonee Robinson, which could come as a blow to Liverpool, according to Spanish outlet MARCA. The Fulham defender impressed at Anfield last weekend, and has been touted as a potential replacement for Andy Robertson since.
United though could put a spanner in the works, with Ruben Amorim expected to make signing a left-back his top priority. They’re now said to be pondering a move for Robinson, and could hold the upper hand over Liverpool and Chelsea.

£60-£125 Liverpool FC
Liverpool.com says: Robinson will surely earn himself a big move soon, and it will be full deserved given his performances at Fulham. Given what we saw from him at Anfield, he would be an exciting signing for Liverpool, but it’s also not the end of the world if the Reds don’t land him.
He will be 28 next season, so he wouldn’t necessarily be a long-term signing, meaning someone like Milos Kerkez might be a better option. It would be a blow seeing Robinson go to United though, as that would represent a rare good signing for them.
Rayan Cherki (Lyon)
Liverpool is leading the race to sign Rayan Cherki along with Paris Saint-Germain, according to Foot Mercato. Lyon may be forced to sell the 21-year-old in January, with the club needing to raise funds after being handed a provisional relegation to Ligue 2.
What’s more, Botafogo star Thiago Almada has told ESPN that he will be making the move to Lyon in next month, suggesting that the French club has already lined up a successor to Cherki, and potentially giving Liverpool the green light to make a move.
Liverpool.com says: Signing Cherki would appear to fit the ‘opportunistic’ bill Richard Hughes set out in the summer. Everything seems to have fallen into place for the forward to be on the move soon, so it will be up to Liverpool to decide how much they want him.
