Manu Fajardo, the sporting director of Real Betis, recently addressed the possibility of Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos returning to the club.
Speaking right before Real Betis’ match against HJK Helsinki in the UEFA Conference League, Fajardo responded to questions regarding whether the midfielder might don the Betis colours again in the future.
While the sporting director acknowledged Ceballos’ talent and his history with the club, he also emphasised that the focus for now remains firmly on the present.
“Dani is a great player and somehow he has shown his interest in one day playing again at Betis, like other players who left at a young age and have the dream of retiring at Betis before hanging up their boots,” he said, as revealed by Mundo Deportivo.
This tempered any immediate speculation, even though Ceballos’ connection to Betis continues to spark conversations among fans.
More speculation
Ceballos, a product of the Betis youth academy, has always been vocal about his affection for the club. After leaving for Real Madrid in 2017, the player has occasionally hinted at a potential return to where his career began.

Such hints often reignite hope among Betis supporters, who view him as a player capable of making a significant impact in their squad.
Recently, Ceballos fuelled these expectations further through a subtle but telling interaction on social media. A Betis fan shared a Christmas-themed post that featured prominent figures associated with the club, including Manuel Pellegrini and Isco.
Ceballos’ response to this post, “Only one is missing to come back for Christmas,” added to the growing anticipation, especially after rumours of his potential move to Betis circulated during the summer transfer window.
It must be noted that although no concrete steps have been taken, the idea of Ceballos returning remains a subject of excitement and speculation.
For Betis fans, the possibility of welcoming back a homegrown talent like Ceballos is always a thrilling prospect, especially as players often dream of finishing their careers at their boyhood clubs.
For now, though, the focus remains on the current season and the challenges ahead for Real Betis.
