Darren Bent backs Sean Dyche to keep Everton up this season but not to take them forward past this season.
The 53-year-old currently has his side sitting just three points above the relegation zone after a tough season so far.
However, with the takeover of the club by the Friedkin Group confirmed on Thursday [19 December], supporters will be hoping for a brighter future at Goodison Park
With this in mind, there is an immediate decision to be made over the future of Dyche at the club with debates over how far he can take the club forward.
Speaking on talkSPORT [19 December: 16:17pm], Bent cast his vote on a short-term future as when asked if Dyche will stay he said: “I don’t know. It depends. I mean they’re going to be safe. I never really fear they go down with Dyche in charge.

“But when you talk about the football that they’re playing and I’m guessing with the season tickets there, I don’t know what the situation is if they’ve frozen the prices or has it gone up whatever but going into a new stadium where you want to see some nice attacking football in a new arena, do you want to be watching this?
“Like going into a new stadium, do you want to be fighting relegation again is the question?
“But I think they’ve got better players in that squad that can play a better brand of football.”
How far can Sean Dyche take Everton?
There have been plenty of debates around the Blues boss this season which is unsurprising given the side’s league position at this stage in the term.
However, there is no denying that things have been tough both on and off the pitch for the Toffees for a while now and this has had an impact on how well the boss has been able to execute his duties.
Therefore, with owners at the helm going into the January transfer window, this could provide Dyche with the necessary additions to get his side going now.

As Bent says, you don’t feel like the 53-year-old will let the Toffees go down this term with plenty of experience under his belt.
Once survival is secured, TFG will then have to make a decision on where they want to take their new club in the long term and it is up to the boss to prove himself in the meantime if he wants to stay on in his role.
