Newcastle United are reportedly closing in on a sensational January move for PSV Eindhoven star Johan Bakoyoko.

Various sources have named the Belgian as a serious Toon target for the winter window. It is no secret that St James’ Park chiefs have targeted a right-sided attacker since earlier this year.

Centre-back was a priority in August when the Magpies chased Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi. However, noise around resurrecting the deal has gone quiet, with Newcastle angling towards bolstering their attacking options.

Dutch outlet Voetbal Krant claims Toon chiefs are close to a breakthrough with PSV star Bakayoko. The 21-year-old, who boasts six goal contributions in the Eredivisie this season, has emerged as one of Europe’s top talents.

A compromise could be achieved as the Magpies know Bakayoko is entering the final 18 months of his contract. Liverpool and Arsenal have previously been linked with the Belgian wonderkid.
